Beauty salon owners have no shortage of products to choose from, but what they often don’t know is just how long they can keep those products in stock.
The salon owners at The House in New Westminster say they’re seeing a trend towards longer waits at their beauty parlours.
“We know that some of the products that we’ve had in stock, we’ve been waiting months to get them in, we just don’t have time to wait,” said salon owner Melissa Wigglesworth.
“I’ve seen a lot of customers coming in, and we just can’t get them into our stores anymore because they’re running out,” she added.
The wait to get a product in a beauty salon has become increasingly long.
The House in Vancouver has had to temporarily suspend its beauty salon program because of a shortage of items, while the owners of Vancouver’s Beach House in Surrey say they’ve had to suspend the service indefinitely.
The shop is still open to all customers, but customers are advised to avoid using the salon, as it’s not allowed to open in the morning.
“It’s been really challenging,” said owner and hairstylist Rebecca Kinsman.
“They can’t open their doors until 10 a.m. because they don’t open until 10:30, and they don.
It’s just a constant, continual struggle.”
Kinsman said she’s not sure what caused the salon to have to temporarily shut down, but said it’s definitely caused her business to lose some of its customers.
“Right now, it’s kind of a stressful situation, because it’s just too much of a struggle to get the products in and get them out,” said Kinsmans mother.
The house is currently accepting appointments for the remainder of its business, but Kinsmen said they won’t be able to reopen until next month.
