Linda Gies, who founded Nancys Beauty Salon in 1986, died on Monday.
She was 94.
Gies founded NANCYS with her husband, Fred, and their two children in their hometown of Toronto.
She is credited with founding the Ontario hair salon industry, which she helped grow with the opening of NANCys Hair Salon in 1987.NANCYS is a small boutique salon that opened in 1987 in Toronto.
It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an annual fee of $100 for a three-hour appointment.
The shop is also available for private appointments.
Gians was born in London, Ont., to the Gies brothers.
She grew up in Toronto, graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.
Gis has had a long career in the beauty industry, first starting in the hair salon world in the 1970s when she opened her own salon.
Gists’ career began at the age of 16 when she was hired by a local salon owner as a hair stylist.
She quickly established herself as a successful salon owner and a well-known name in the industry.
She worked in the Toronto and Hamilton area and now owns two private hair salons.
In 1996, Gies launched her own brand, NANCY, which is based on her belief that beauty is more than a look, said owner Linda.
She also has three other beauty brands, including The Hair Store, which offers custom appointments, as well as the NANCIES Salon, which provides beauty services and has been in business for over 60 years.
Nancy Gies said the Nancies name reflects her love of her customers and is the best way to say goodbye to her customers.
She said her life will be filled with memories of her salon customers and will be remembered for the beauty she has created in the salon.
Nancys opened in 1985 and has since grown into a multi-million dollar business.
In 2015, the company was purchased by a private equity firm, who renamed the Ontario branch.
The Ontario branch is currently closed for renovations and will reopen next month, but will only be open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 a.k. to 4:30 p.k., said Linda.
The NANCYING Salon will remain open as well, but with the addition of a private appointment.
